Case Study 11: A 38-year-old man has been increasingly anxious about his job in a large manufacturing company. He feels that he has been passed over for a promotion several times. The patient is preoccupied with many small events and conversations that have occurred at work during the year and worries how his superiors will interpret them. He finds it difficult to control his worrying. During the day at work he feels restless and edgy. At home he is irritable and has difficulty sleeping. He wife asks him about work but he doesn’t want to talk about it.

This patient is suffering from a Generalized Anxiety Disorder. He has excessive anxiety and worry about a number of the events that have happened in the past year. His mind is preoccupied with these past events so he is also showing that he can't concentrate. The patient is having a difficult time controlling his worrying. He has been having signs of sleep disturbances and restlessness or edginess. He has also been showing deep irritability and these are all major signs of a general anxiety disorder.

Mr. 38 year old man can get this taken care of by seeking attention from a professional psychologist and talking things through, like why he is so worried. He could work on relaxation techniques to help calm him down. Another help is talking to people that he knows and trusts about his anxiety problem, like his wife. One more way to help rid some of the anxiety is to work out. It is said to take people's minds off of things and make people feel better by relieving chemicals in the brain.

I think you should've also included what type of therapy this person might need. Overall, nice description.

I agree with your diagnosis, although I would recommend he share his thoughts with some close co-workers.
